Puerto de Matarani - Arequipa // Matarani Harbour - Arequipa

Ni bien llegué de mi viaje a Iquitos, a la semana siguiente mi trabajo me mando a otro lugar que siempre quise conocer: Arequipa. Estuve poco tiempo en la misma Ciudad Blanca, ya que mi deber me llamaba a la parte costeña de este departamento, específicamente a Matarani - Islay donde fui realizar un levantamiento de información social. Una de mis visitas fue un puerto que es conocido como "El Faro". Ahí pude observar animales salvajes a pocos metros de las instalaciones del puerto. Me di un pequeño break, los cinco minutos mas interesantes e intensos de todo el viaje. //  As soon as came from my Iquito's travel, the next week my job sent me to another place that I always wanted to know: Arequipa. I stayed for awhile in the White City, given that my duty was in the coast of this region, specifically in Matarani - Islay in where I did a social survey service. One of my visits was a harbour called "El Faro" . There, I was able to watch wild sea animals close to the harbour facilities. A took a little break, the most interesting five minutes of all the journey.

Terminada mi labor encomendada, regrese a la Cuidad Blanca, y ya que sobraron algunos minutos antes de que tuviera que presentarme en el Aeropuerto de Arequipa, aproveche para conocer el famoso Mirador de Yanahuara, el cual tiene grabado en sus arcos frases patriotas de ilustres poetas areiquepeños que resaltan el valor y coraje de su pueblo. // Finished my work entrusted, I returned to the White City, and, since I have few minutes left over before the boarding at the Arequipa's Airport, I took the opportunity to meet the famous Yahahuara's Balcony, in which is graven in its arcs, patriotic phrases from local poets. These phrases stand out the courage and bravery of the Arequipa's people.

Sin duda, hubiera querido quedarme más tiempo para conocer esta hermosa cuidad y el legado histórico que contiene, pero el tiempo no quiso, no respeta intereses personales. Ya en el camino hacia el aeropuerto he jurado a Arequipa volvernos a encontrar para una aventura más duradera...// Without doubt, I wished to stay longer to know more about this wonderful city and its historical legacy, but the time didn't want, it doesn't respect personal interests. On my way to the airport I sweared myself to meet Arequipa again for a longer adventure...

AÑO NUEVO 2013 EN IQUITOS - PERU // NEW YEAR IN IQUITOS - PERU

En esta entrada les comentaré nuestra experiencia (la de mi novia y mía) sobre nuestro Año Nuevo en el Lodge Amazónico "Sinchicuy" en Iquitos, Loreto. Nos enteramos de este lodge vía internet y compramos el paquete turístico por la cantidad de actividades que incluía a precio cómodo a comparación de otros paquetes. //In this post I'll comment our experience (my fiancee's and mine) about New Year in the "Sinchicuy" Amazon Lodge in Iquitos, Loreto. We find this lodge through the internet and buyed the tourist packadge because it had more activities to do for an comfortable price comparing with others.

El servicio, a nuestro parecer, fue bueno; ni bien llegamos al Aeropuerto de Iquitos, ya se encontraba localizado en la salida el conductor de la movilidad que nos conduciría hasta el puerto. Una vez ahí, tomamos una lancha motorizada que nos dejo en las instalaciones del lodge. Las habitaciones son del tipo rústica: hechas de madera, sin luz eléctrica, en las noches se ilumina por medio de una lámpara a gas, y el techo consta de un mosquitero. Todas estas características permiten un mayor contacto con la naturaleza, escuchar sus sonidos, oler sus aromas, sentir su atmósfera, lo cual es sumamente relajante.//The service, in our opinion, was good. Once we landed at Iquito's Airport, we met at the exit the person which will delivered us to the harbour. In that point, we took a motorized boat which took us to the lodge facilities. The rooms are builded in rustic style: made of  wood, no electricity, during the night is used gas lamps to light the room, and the roof consists in a mosquito net. All these characteristics help to provide a closer touch with the nature, listen its noises, smell its scents, feel its atmosphere, which is highly de-stressing.

La comida servida en el lodge a nuestro parecer es buena, no es 100% típica del lugar debido a las prefrerencias de los turistas internacionales, pero aún así mantiene ciertos ingredientes típicos como la chonta (palmito), el plátano maduro, y los chicharrones de pescado de río.// The food served in the lodge was good, it wasn't 100% typical due to the international tourist's preferences, but yet, it kept some of the native ingredients like the chonta(palmito), bananas, and river fish cracklings.

El primer día pudimos apreciar como se realiza el extracto de jugo de caña de azúcar mediante el trapiche y luego los rituales chamanísticos. El segundo día conocimos más de la flora y fauna del lugar, hacer pesca en el río y realizar una caminata nocturna por los alrededores del lodge.// The first day we saw how to extract sugarcane juice through the trapiche and later the shamanistic rituals. The second day we met over about native wildlife, do river fishing and make a nocturnal hike around the facilities

El tercer día fue para nosotros el mejor: conocimos a la comunidad nativa de los Yaguas, aprendimos sus danzas, a realizar tiros con cerbatanas de 2 metros de longitud y 3 kilos de peso. Y para coronar el pastel visitamos un centro de rescate de animales, la mayoría de ellos monos (capuchinos y maquisapas), boas, guacamayos, loros y perezosos  Los animales son sumamente amigables, se dejan tocar, son juguetones y tolerantes a la presencia humana, siempre y cuando no se les estrese.//The third day was the best for us: we met the Yaguas native community, we learnt their dances, we  shoted with blowguns of 2 meters (7 feet) long and 3 kilos (6.5 punds). And to crown the cake,  we visited an animal rescue center, most of them were monkeys (capuchin and spider monkeys) constrictor boa, macaws, parrots, and sloths. The animals are very friendly, playful, they let you touch them as long as you don't stress them.

Tanto mi novia como yo calificamos como excelente esta experiencia. Fue novedosa, enriquecedora y, sobretodo, desestresante para los que estamos acostumbrados al panorama gris de Lima. Recomendamos el Lodge Amazónico Shinchicuy para los que deseen conocer más las riquezas de la selva amazónica de Iquitos.//We, my fiancee and myself,  score as excellent this experience. It was novel, enriching, and above all,  de-stressing for those who are used to the grey landscape of Lima. We recommend Sinchicuy Amazon Lodge for those who want to know more about the wealth of Iquito's rainforest.
